After you've applied to a shift, this shift will now move from your open shifts section to your bookings section, under the "applied" label.

A relief shift is booked only after the following actions take place:

  1. You apply to a shift.

  2. The employer approves your shift application.

  3. You confirm the shift. The shift is now booked and will appear under the "bookings" page for both you and the employer.

Note: The practice is responsible for arranging payment to you directly. It's best to clarify expectations directly with the practice before your shift.

If the employer who posted the shift approves you, this doesn't mean that the shift is booked yet! There's one final step - you need to confirm this shift in order to secure the booking.

Here's an overview of how to confirm and book a shift:

Apply to the shift

  1. Click "apply" on the shift card or shift details page, and include any negotiations or special requests. You can also upload attachments in this step. Pro tip: Including a brief introduction about yourself will help you stand out!

Confirm the shift

2. If the employer has approved you for the shift, you'll receive an email notification from hound asking you to confirm the shift. You'll also see this blue banner at the top of all pages in your hound account, just in case you missed the email.

3. Confirm the shift as soon as you can by clicking the "review" button from the blue banner, from the notification on your notifications page, or from the email notification. This will open a popup showing all the shifts that you've been approved for. Click the "view shift" button to view the shift details, and click "confirm".

(Employers can approve multiple workers for a shift to ensure they have adequate coverage for any last minute shifts. The first worker to confirm the shift will have successfully booked this shift.)

4. If you've changed your mind about this shift, you can click "reject".

5. Once a shift has been booked, it will appear in your bookings section under the "booked" label until the shift start time has passed.
